Staying healthy on the go

Hey guys! So I am always traveling and on the go, and have picked up some habits and tricks on how to stay healthy when your schedule picks up. I know everyone has a hectic schedule so here are some ways on how to stay healthy on the go.

  1. Make a Plan

Make sure to strategically plan out your grocery list, no one has time to run out during the week, this way you can plan your meals accordingly.

One option is to cook Sunday and meal prep for the week to have a set meal and avoid temptations of picking up something for convenience. A lot of the time I will meal prep even if it is something as simple as protein bars.

  1. Eat for Nutrition

While no one has a perfect diet, including me, it is important to get in your fruits, veggies, proteins, healthy fats etc. to feel your best during your busy schedule, buying a pressed juice is a great way to sneak in extra nutrition. I recently read The Body Book by Camerian Diaz and it was great at explaining how to eat for nutrition and nourish your body.

 

  1. Healthy is a lifestyle, not a diet

I think many people eat healthy as a way to loose weight, another diet, and don’t see the overall end goal. The end goal is to: have more energy, feel great about yourself inside and out, feel strong, feel healthy and feel like your best self.

Once you start eating healthier your body craves the nutrition of real wholesome food, and it becomes easier to incorporate into your lifestyle.

I mainly eat 80/20 (80 healthy 20 cheat foods), no ones diet is perfect but it is important to keep your health in check for yourself and for your family.

  1. Get involved

I love to cook and one of my favorite things to do is to make a healthy dinner or meal. If you make it fun and something to look forward to, cooking as a family or cooking because you enjoy it, eating healthy won’t feel like a chore. When I was living in New York I cooked dinner mostly every weekend, and still love to save weekends to try recipes.

  1. Stay Active

Find new ways to get motivated to keep active even if it means waking up and going for a morning walk as part of your routine. My cousin recently started a Yoga Challenge and has been keeping up with it after work as part of her healthy lifestyle. Incorporate something such as yoga or walking that is enjoyable and manageable into your lifestyle.
