4 Ways to be Fearless
Hey Guys! I feel like the word fearless has become a buzz word as of late and I am secretly loving it. There are definitely things I want to do but I hesitate and hold back out of fear. I think it is a normal human instinct to want to stay comfortable, secure and safe. It’s no secret if you are staying comfortable then you are not growing. It takes COURAGE and GRIT to get to the next level. Thats why I wanted to share 4 Ways to be Fearless.
1. Ask “What is the Worst Thing that Can Happen”
A lot of times we hold back from what we really want to do and feel we are called to do because of FEAR. We fear the worst case scenario, we could lose our security and familiarity with living comfortably. What if you prepared for the worst and mapped out a plan? Faced that fear instead of being crippled by it?
2. Develop a Worst Case Scenario and Prepare
One thing I learned from reading Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris, is to map out a security plan. Let’s say you want to start your own company: what is the WORST case scenario you can think of and what would be your back up plan?
For Example: You start this company and you are not making ends meet, maybe you pick up a bartending job to pay rent or freelancing gig. You save enough for xyz months and if it doesn’t work go back to your original career.
What can you think of as a worst case scenario and make an action plan from?
3. Don’t Overthink
We HESITATE to leap and are fearful of change because it has to do with releasing some control. The unknown can be unsettling. What if we opened our minds and INVITED change in? Released control and expanded our thinking? Then It wouldn’t seem so scary.
4. Be More Self-Aware and Build Self-Confidence
TRULY understand who you are, your WHY and what truly motivates you intrinsically. When uncertainty creeps in or times get tough you will have to rely on why you decided to be fearless and what truly drives you. In order to do this you need to be self aware of your values and have the confidence in yourself that you can succeed.
